THOUSANDS OF SOUTH AFRICANS GATHER AT UNION BUILDINGS

http://thewe.cc/weplanet/
Freedom day is annually celebrated on the 27th of April. This is a South African celebration that represents the South African non-racial elections of 1994. This historical day marks the end of apartheid, segregation and the rule of white minority. It is basically an establishment of democracy and a new government that was led by Mr Nelson Mandela.

This year freedom day was on a Saturday, from my own opinion it felt like a normal day, it was just like any other day because it was on a Saturday. Saturday is part of a weekend, but that doesn’t mean that we as South Africans should forget about this day.

This is the reason why thousands of South Africans gathered at the union buildings on Saturday. The celebration of this year was themed under “ Mobolising society towards consolidating our democracy and freedom.” This theme explains that we as South Africans need to work as one, we need to join hands in making South Africa a better country to live in.

This is the day where we as South Africans reflect at what happened in the past and look at what we have achieved as a nation. Much has changed since 1994, but there is still much that has to be done in South Africa.

Freedom day is about better our lives and this means everyone. This day is not only about freedom, democracy and human rights, it is also about what makes us South Africans.
Our struggles to overcome apartheid show the value of freedom to most South Africans!

LIFE TIME CELEBRATIONS

This blog can be sensitive but it is the truth. So please follow readers forgive me if  what i am about to write will offend you.

In life we are surrounded by 3 types of people, people who love you, people who hate you and people who will always be jealous of you. I have had friends who come and who go in my life but i guess that is reality.

One of the recent incidents that happened in this month of April involved my best friend. She will remain anonymous my point is that people come and go in your life. Don’t cry for someone who does not help you with anything in life instead he or she brings pain.

I would like to make this clear: honesty is the best tool that people who are in a relationship can use, regardless of whether they are lover or best friends. A relationship without honesty is like a pencil without a sharp point and that is so useless to use.

Furthermore life is about happiness so there is more to life than always wondering what the person next to you is up to or wondering why she has everything and you don’t?. These are the questions that i would like you to ask yourself is: what is happiness? And do you know what it takes to achieve happiness?

Well i will explain my version of happiness, happiness is a choice, and you choose to be happy no one else can create happiness in your life. So therefore you are the creator of your own happiness. Please settle for nothing but the best refuse to be an option in someone else's life while they are a priority in your life.

This point goes back to what i stated above that honesty is a significant tool, it is human nature and we as people need to practice this tool in order to live in peace.

Without peace there is no love and life. My best advice to you is to keep on trying, don’t give up but if things are not working out walk away, when your purpose is not seen as well as taken in consideration. Believe me, you are worth more than you think. Happiness begins with you not with the other person, be true to yourself and do to people as you want them to do to you. Honesty life time celebrations :)

EARTH DAY

Every day on the 22nd of April people participate and show their appreciation in protecting the earth.

It is a way of encouraging people to develop the idea of sustainability and to realize the importance of a green economy. Earth day is celebrated by outdoor performances. This includes activities; like planting trees, picking up trash and recycling. Earth day is not a public holiday but affects the public life.

April 22 which is earth day is founded in 1970 by John McConnell. He organised this day to promote ecology and respect for planets. This was to encourage awareness to problems of water, soil and air pollution.

One of the events that occurred during earth day in Cape Town was that Cape Town residents went an extra mile to find ways to save electricity on the 22nd of April 2010. This was the way they celebrated and reduced the negative impacts on the earth. This also helped in reducing the risk of power cuts in specific areas in Cape Town.

Earth day is not a day where with think about matters affecting the earth but to also act as well as change our manners. So the actions that each and every one of us contributes or make is important. This day is to solve environmental issues as well as promotes a healthy lifestyle.

The importance of earth day now, is that everyone has the responsibility for their actions.

BIRTH DAY CELEBRATIONS: HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM!

Sometimes it is best to show appreciation where it is due because you will never realize the things you have until they are gone.

A birth date is a day that is annually celebrated every year. My blog is actually titled holiday celebrations, but I feel that there is a need to write a message this lovely woman: Kelebo Maria Ramatlo.

My mom is a very special person. This is a woman who raised me as well as showed me the right path in life. She is my pillar of strength and a shoulder to cry on in times of trouble. She has the ability to take on both characters of being a mother and a father. Please do not forget being the best grandmother to her granddaughter.

This woman is God fearing and she is just God sent I am so proud to call her my mother and my best friend. I would not be who I am because of her hard work and good efforts.

On the 18th of April my mom was born, even if she is getting old, what I am thankful of is that she gave me everything that any other child would desire in life, she gave me the gift of receiving an education, an opportunity to study and become something in life.

Happy birthday mom, I know that you have not only made a difference in my life but also in others. Your kindness and generosity is seen and appreciated by your daughter. I love you so much and I pray that God blesses you more for your good deeds. Enjoy your day and we love you so much!

HE LIVED, HE DIED AND HE ROSE: EASTER SUNDAY

Easter Sunday has been historically celebrated on Christian’s calendars. Christians celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday. This Sunday service is attended by most Christians. According to Christian believe Jesus came back to life, meaning that he was raised form the dead three days after his death on the cross. I want to clarify this; Easter is a festival season that explains that the death of Jesus Christ and the crucifixion is commemorated on Good Friday. This incident happened before on Friday just before Easter. Being born and raised in a religious family, I was thought that through his death and resurrection, Jesus paid the penalty for our sins. Those who believe in him will have eternal life. Easter is joyful time of hope and assurance. Easter services include sermons, Holy Communion, special prayers, and singing hymns. Therefore Easter also marks the end of Lent, lent is a 40 day period of fasting, prayer and penance. As Christians it is important to know the meaning of Easter, and stepping in church is a good decision. Bear in mind that it is not about your physical appearance, how you look in that dress, or are you dressed to impress others, that is the least of things that you should worry about because God wants and original not a fake. Be yourself and leave the rest to God, he surely knows the best. Hope you all enjoyed your Easter Weekend may the good Lord bless you all.

CHRIS HANI

The 10th of April marks 20 years of the assassination of Chris Hani. Chris Hani was born as Martin Thembsile Hani on the 28th of June 1942. Hani was a leader of the South African Communist Party and chief of umkhonto we size, the armed wing of the African National Congress (ANC). He was a strong opponent of the apartheid government. He died on the 10th April 1993.
Hani participated in the struggle of freedom. He believed in the political ideology of liberalism and later he was exposed to Marxist ideas. He further developed the nature of a racist capitalist system, which South Africa was facing during the apartheid regime.
His racial perspective was the course of Karl Marx belief of the notion of Marxism. Marxism entails power, controlling and tyranny and this is linked to institutional oppression that happened in the past.
In the year 1961 Chris HANI decided to join underground SA Communist Party. He believed that national liberation would bring economic liberation. Meaning that the country should be involved in free trade, equal job opportunities must be offered, this was for the development of the country. Today South Africa has come so far and achieved a lot because of people like Mr Hani. South Africa is one of the developing countries in the world.
He is an Icon and died for the struggles of the apartheid regime.Thank you Chris Hani for your contributions. You will always be remembered on this day.

GOOD FRIDAY

Good Friday is one of the printable public holidays that Christians celebrate. This day commemorates Jesus Christ passion, crucifixion and death. Good Friday is a day after Maundy Thursday.
The term celebration is broad; it describes memorable events in our lives. According to my own perspective the whole celebration of Good Friday is to remind us Christians that Jesus died for us. How he died for us. This has been an ideological belief and remembrance for us Christians: He died and rose back for us. This is the purpose of his existence in our life.
The scripture of Mathews 1:21 explain that “Then after her baby is born, name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” Therefore the significant reason for Jesus existence is taking away our sins, by showing as well as leading us to right paths. The Ten Commandments in the holy bible are actually a guideline on how Christians must portray themselves. How we should conduct ourselves on a daily basis.
We celebrate this day by singing songs of praise, hymns and praying. Praying is powerful because it is seen as communication from one person to God. Apart from what is mentioned above Holy Communion is also one of the reasons why we celebrate Good Friday. We eat the bread which symbolizes the body of Christ and drink the wine which symbolizes his blood. This was shared for us on the cross.
Good Friday is the memory that we have to share and honor by celebrating Jesus death and Love for us.
